Physical therapy

Physical therapy or physiotherapy (sometimes abbreviated to PT) is a specialty within the health care profession primarily concerned with the remediation of impairments and disabilities and the promotion of mobility, functional ability, quality of life and movement potential through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention.

What is DIRECT ACCESS?
Physical Therapists in New York State have direct access which means you Do NOT have to see an orthopedist before being evaluated by a PT. Doctors of PT (DPT) are skilled professionals that can differential diagnose, recognize red flags, and implement appropriate exercise and rehabilitative plans ranging from orthopedic to neurological issues. Yes, under Medicare guidelines you do need to be under an MD’s care with monthly check ups as well as no fault and worker’s comp. However, under most NYS insurances you can see your PT for 30 days or 10 visits and be confident we can diagnose, treat, and eventually refer you to the appropriate healthcare practitioner if symptoms persist.
